Banish and Baptism explained

When to wait for a Banish objective, why Temple cap matters more than individual Baptisms, and how to use Ancient Blood wisely.

Prison system: Upgrade before recruiting

The Prison is where you recruit new heroes. Its upgrade level determines the starting stats of heroes recruited AFTER the upgrade—not retroactively.

Critical rule: Upgrade Prison BEFORE mass recruiting. Heroes recruited at Prison level 1 are permanently weaker than those recruited at level 10. If you recruit early and upgrade later, you will eventually need to banish (remove) those weak heroes and recruit replacements.

Recommended approach:

• Upgrade Prison to at least level 3-5 before recruiting more than your starter heroes

• Look for heroes with summon abilities—these add free combat power

• Prioritize Clerics and Warriors with strong starting stats

• Save your initial Ancient Blood for Temple upgrades, not early Baptisms

Banishment strategy

Banishment removes heroes from your roster to make room for better recruits or to complete specific Monolith objectives.

When to banish:

• Heroes recruited at low Prison levels who are now underperforming

• Duplicates of classes you already have covered

• Heroes with poor stat distributions for their role

• When the Monolith specifically requests a Banish action

Do not banish blindly—wait for the objective or a clear replacement candidate.

Temple cap before Baptisms

The Temple controls Baptisms, which level up individual heroes using Ancient Blood. However, the Temple level itself determines the maximum hero level cap and reduces the Ancient Blood cost per Baptism.

Priority: Raise Temple level before spending Ancient Blood on Baptisms.

Why this matters:

• Temple level raises the level cap for EVERY hero you will ever field

• Higher Temple reduces Ancient Blood cost per Baptism

• A Temple upgrade helps all six heroes; a Baptism helps only one

• Early Baptisms at low Temple levels waste Ancient Blood due to higher costs

Preview Baptism

Baptism choices can change the value of a unit or build. Read the preview, compare the effect with your party's real bottleneck, and avoid committing because an option sounds universally strong.

Ancient Blood is a scarce resource. Spend it only when:

• The Temple is at a reasonably high level

• The hero is one of your core six (not a temporary recruit)

• The Baptism addresses your current progression wall
